Fibre optic technology offers many advantages when used in medical applications.

 

a.     describe how optical fibre may be used in medical applications

b.     identify the traditional medical techniques that optical fibres might replace

c.     Evaluate the benefits of fibre optic technology to medicine 

a. Optical fibres are a great new breakthrough in medicine and telecommunication technology. In medicine, Fibre optics are helpful because they are lightweight, flexible, strong and easy to manouver inside the body which is important when navigating the anatomy of a person.

b. The traditional medical techniques that fibre optics get rid of are huge holes in people during surgical procedures to find what is wrong with them. Fibe optics can be joined together and be connected to a lense which sends images of inside the person through a small cut in the person.

c. The benefits of fibre optics to medicine are great. Firstly the Size of them enables less invasive procedures to be carried out which get the sought out information quicker. They are also cheap to make which means medical bills and costs are lowered for people who undergo surgery with them.
