1. What does this video mean/say to you?

Ans: When I see this viedo, I see a person dancing. I see that his spirit brings good spirit to other people who join in the dancing to create a combined effort. A combined effort brings teamwork and friendship.

2. What qusetions does this clip make you think about?

Ans: Who funded the trips to all these countries? Who is the dancing man? Why is he doing this? What does it mean?

3. Why do you think that we are showing this clip now:

Ans: I seriously have no idea. My best guess is that it is to promote a positive side of the world. In everday media accounts you could struggle to find any positive articles. I think we are being showed this clip to show that Media accounts aren’t always negative.

Investigate the two types of sight defect- long-sightedness and short sightedness.

Find the following information:

  1. what causes the defect
  2. the symptoms displayed
  3. propose what sort of lens may be used to correct each vision.

A1. For short-sightedness, the cause is usually because it runs in the family. It can also be an early symptom to show that someone may have type 2 diabetes. The scientific term for Short sightedness Is Myopia. The cause of this is that the light your eye takes in, has its focal point BEFORE the retina which gives a blurred image.

B1. The symptoms are that distant objects appear blurred while ones from short distance are still in focus.

C1. The type of lens that might be used to treat this is A concave lens because it gives a magnified view of a wide area. You can also get Laser eye surgery which is becoming increasingly popular.

A2. Long sightedness is also a condition that can be passed down from genes. Many babies are born with Hyperopia but it corrects itself as they get older.

B2. the symptom is that people cannot see things from a short distance because it is out of focus. This is why people need reading glasses.

C2. The lens that you may need to correct long sightedness is a convex lens because it creates a short focal point. You can also correct it with laser eye surgery

1. Likes and dislikes of this project…..any suggestions on how to improve???

1. During this project I have actually enjoyed finding out how binoculars, telescopes, periscopes and other optical instruments work. They are alot simpler than I thought. I also liked making my own periscope out of 2 mirrors and a milk carton. What I didn’t like was being sick which meant I missed out on 3 days of school and had no idea when I came back.

2. What areas do you think you have improved in from project 1 to project 4?

2. I think I have improved on my ability to divide work and understand that some people’s maximum amount of work in a lesson might be less than mine. I have also been able to let others take the main part in presentation when I used to always want to do everything.

3. What further skills would you like to develop over the next few projects?

3. I would like to develop the skill of catching up on work and trusting others.

  1. Analyse why red sunsets can sometimes be more impressive when there is more dust or pollution in the air than usual.  When there is more dust or pollution in the air, red sunsets can be more impressive because when the red light in the atmosphere spreads and gets hit by light particles, there are more particles in the air which means that the light travelling from one particle to the other has a smaller distance between particles which means a stronger colour is retained

  1. Describe what happens inside water droplets to cause a rainbow and explain how you can tell whether a rainbow is a primary or secondary.

When it rains, the light refracts inside the water  droplets which makes the spectrum of light appear (rainbow).

Secondary rainbows are very rare and are when a second rainbow occurs in the sky. You can tell the difference because on a secondary rainbow the colours are backwards with Violet on the outside and red on the inside.

Fibre optic technology offers many advantages when used in medical applications.

a.     describe how optical fibre may be used in medical applications

b.     identify the traditional medical techniques that optical fibres might replace

c.     Evaluate the benefits of fibre optic technology to medicine

a. Optical fibres are a great new breakthrough in medicine and telecommunication technology. In medicine, Fibre optics are helpful because they are lightweight, flexible, strong and easy to manouver inside the body which is important when navigating the anatomy of a person.

b. The traditional medical techniques that fibre optics get rid of are huge holes in people during surgical procedures to find what is wrong with them. Fibe optics can be joined together and be connected to a lense which sends images of inside the person through a small cut in the person.

c. The benefits of fibre optics to medicine are great. Firstly the Size of them enables less invasive procedures to be carried out which get the sought out information quicker. They are also cheap to make which means medical bills and costs are lowered for people who undergo surgery with them.

1. Open and read the “How to write a critique” document in the resources menu.

Describe what is a critique.

2. Outline the FOUR stages in a critique.

3. Can a critique be positive? Discuss.

4. Critique the accuracy of the following articles:

2. The four stages in a critique are

·         An introduction which directs the reader’s attention to the publication

·         A summary of the article being discussed

·         Your analysis on the original text

·         Your evaluation

3. A critique can indeed be positive. If there is a 100% correct article that has been portrayed ethically and correctly then there should not be any negativeness.

4. Beijing, Is it a trap?

This story has been held out by an American show called, “In the know”. This issue has been discussed because the upcoming Beijing olympics are a very interesting topic in the news at the moment. However my view on this story is negative.

Clearly these people are dillusional in their stupid opinions of this story. Stating that the clay warriors are going to kill us, that the Chinese are planting hundreds of trees on olympic venues which will attract all the athletes because of air pollution and then once they are there, elite ninjas will kill them all. Do these people know what they are saying or being forced to ready a completely false script. In my opinion, there are no positives in this story except that know we know Americans are complete idiots if we weren’t sure before.

To end, I would even like to see this show put off the air because of how ridiculous it is and downright crazy.

2 year old donkey called up to play pro Donkey basketball league

This issue is talking aobut a 15 month old donkey who plays in the Donkey basketball league. He has been signed for a record 50pounds of food PER DAY to play in the big league.

According to me, this competition could be a case of animal abuse. Not just talking about Scraps the donkey himself, but the whole competition. The fact that there is camera flashes, loud noises, the donkey’s play on a hard surface and the basketball going past donkey’s head in every game, could be a safety problem for the donkey and the people riding them.

At the start of this article I was trying to be positive but thenn as I started to write, I could see no positives in this Donkey basketball league. Therefore my stance on this issue is that the game be scrapped.
